Hi everyone,
Welcome to my first ever blog attempt!
If I get enough interest and positive feedback this has the potential of becoming a once monthly post.
Scroll to the end of the post for information on how to submit your own problem wall.ASK A DESIGNER: TRICKY FOYER
Alison submitted the photo below stating, "I just can't find the right solution for this wall."
Foyers can be a tricky space to design based on their usual small square footage, but add in an angled ceiling line and a change of flooring mid-wall, no wonder Alison is having a hard time finding the right design solution.
WHAT I LIKE:
The starburst mirror is a good start for designing this wall. Anytime you have an angled ceiling line, round or organic shaped wall decor can help by easing into the space.
WHAT I WOULD ADD:
First, I would raise the mirror slightly. Next, to help fill the space, I would put sconces on either side along with two small horizontal picture frames under the mirror. Then, ancor this arrangement with a long floating shelf that can span the two different floor finishes. Last, I would finish the space with a small upholstered stool tucked under the shelf.
